Hazmat: Markings, Labels, and Packaging

This 9 min video goes over Markings, Labels and Packaging for hazmat.

Markings are symbols, words or numbers that simply tell us more about what the package contains.  Markings may be on bulk or non-bulk packages.  They may have to be on a placard or on a cargo tank.

A label has a unique color depending on the hazard class.  There are nine different color combinations for the nine different labels.

The term package refers to the packaging plus its contents and is used throughout the HMR. A package must meet minimum packaging requirements and can include fiberboard or cardboard boxes, drums, jerricans, portable tanks, cargo tanks, tank cars, cylinders, and containers other than freight containers and over packs.
